Most Frequently Asked Questions
1. I have sensitive skin can I still be sprayed?
If you have eczema dermatitis, or psoriasis it’s best to patch test the skin. If the skin has no reaction the spray tan may go ahead.
We use the highest quality eco certified ingredients but if you are concerned about possible allergies or reactions to the tanning solution, please notify your sunless tanning technician prior to your tan. They can do a patch test on a small area of the skin prior to a full body session. The same would apply to retail items when using them at home, do a patch test and go from there.
Testing has shown that DHA does not penetrate the skin, nor enter the blood stream, therefore, it appears safe to spray pregnant women. As a precaution we suggest clients who are pregnant get permission from their local doctor. For women who are breastfeeding, ensure nipples are wiped over before breastfeeding.
3. Do I have to take all of my clothes off?
Absolutely not, a client should feel comfortable and can choose to wear their bathers, underwear, G-string or they can go naked if they prefer.
4. During my shower, I have noticed some colour washing away?
This is fine and completely normal. The excess colour that is washing away is the bronzer. Your tan will then continue to develop for the next 12 hours. Pat Dry after each shower being sure not to rub.
5. How often should I moisturise after being spray tanned?
The more the better! We advise moisturising once or twice a day. This will help your tan to fade evenly while keeping your skin well nourished.
We suggest using the Tan HQ Tan Saver Moisturiser $27.95
6. After being sprayed, do I still need to wear sunscreen?
Yes! Tanning solution does not contain sunscreen.
7. Will tanning solution stain my clothes? What should I wear after my tanning session?
We suggest loose dark coloured cotton fabrics as the bronzer will wash out easily from cotton. Females should go braless if possible immediately after the spray to avoid the bra rubbing against the skin and removing the tan.
We recommend purchasing a Kaftanned Kaftan for $29.95 or LTD Little Tan Tank $34.95 to wear after your spray tan
8. Can I wear make-up straight after my tan?
Wearing make- up is fine; however, clients should not wash their face for the first 2 hours after your tan as water stops the development process. Make-up applied before the tanning session will act as a barrier so it is likely that the tan on their face will be slightly lighter than on the rest of their body.
A second application can be applied if required.
9. I frequently go swimming, will this affect my tan?
Yes! Swimming in chlorine water will cause the tan to fade in colour, which will make the tan last a shorter time. It would be wise to invest in a tan extending moisturiser such as our Tan HQ Tan Saver Moisturiser $27.95
10. Can I leave my tan on longer than 2 hours?
The best effect is achieved after 2 hours and showering. However your tan can be left on longer, but we recommend showering off before 4 hours unless advised by your spray tan technician.
